Minutes of meeting held on 6th December 1996 present: PSF, ALL, MS, DJAC, RMB. PSF - At Sheffield made some more glass samples, some cloudiness and some redness, talked with John re variation in moisture, discussion followed on possible causes as a result of which the meeting suggested -more instrumentation to measure moisture -check certification of other chemicals -remove all question marks by listing all unanswered questions and see what can be done to answer them. Lot of time spent on glass report for PP annual report Paul expressed interest in doing x-ray studies of xtals for CMS, as a lot of work already done by Zhu, Bob suggested Paul contact him. ALL - Test beam, some additional mechanical work carried out to APD support. Project meeting with people looking after traversing table upgrade. Received written test procedure, including sample PC program, for testing modified traversing table. Scintillator, for new veto close to T3, available. Design of opto-coupler complete, for beam hodoscope multichannel PMT. Discovered this morning that the test beam target is not working. At this point ALL and MS reported on the actions taken as a result of the adverse comments from recent safety tour. The outcome being that virtually all points were now sorted. RMB - Reported on the meeting at IC last Friday, -all institutes were enthusiastic about taking on endcaps -concerned that have to rely on other institutes for supply of components -working groups set up i)physics constraints ii)engineering constraints (Dave Britten to lead i) and John Connolly to lead ii)) -Dave and Bob have seen George, as chair of CMS Management Board, to indicate possible change -Note sent to Hofer. Opal, glass and CMS status reports. Preparation for CMS week. Request from Russians for support for grant from ISTC (Chemical processing techniques). MS - Test beam work, first scan of xtal with revised readout system. DJAC - Technical board at CERN. CMS has now moved into new offices in Bat 40. Universities to produce list of required equipment, money available. Bruce has looked at first data, fits to TOF spectra. Rutherford entry to annual report. Travel budget for next year. Martin Sproston 12th December 1996.
