Minutes of Quick Calorimetry Meeting  10-10-97.


Present:  RMB, PSF, DI, ALL, MO.

 
PSF   This week, admin work, Central exhibition work.
      Russians arrive around 25/11 for about a month.
      Latest block from Sheffield to be measured for transmission
      next week, if good, go into production week after next. 


ALL   This week working on beam hodoscope, developing technique for
      glueing fibres into grid, looks OK but could be tedious.
      Magnet in R 5.2 - Have agreed to #4k for plumbing work to
      bring cooling up to ISIS standards, split cost between our
      photodetector budget and Test beam budget.


RMB   Worked on PPARC/OST Document posted on Web last night.
      Comments awaited from David Miller/Brian Foster.
      Reviewed ISTC document, sent to Brussells.
      Reading Chapter 6 of TDR.
      Venue for 1998 CMS outside CERN meeting to fix.
      CMS Finance board and Steering committee at CERN next week.
      CMS UK Ecal meeting at RAL next Thursday.

MO    Showed Steve Watts results from APD modelling program, some 
      mistakes, correct in program next week.


DI    Dissertations to read.
      PPARC meeting at Swindon on Weds. Very much biased to Astronomy.
      VPT modelling, some tuning of secondary and tertiary electrons.
      Showed plots of relative gain, assuming 5mm LED spot on centre
      of tube. Secondary emmission coefficient changed.
      Hamamatsu sent 2 sample VPT's of new design 1in diameter.
      Electron tube samples arrived, gain around 12.
