Minutes of Quick Calorimetry Meeting  17-10-97


Present:  RMB, PSF, DI, ALL, MO.


ALL   This week glueing fibre optics into grid for multi anode PMT.
      Only possible to do 2 slots per day, 16 to do in all.
      Magnet in R 5.2 - Plumber starts on Monday next to re plumb
      magnet to ISIS spec. Next week continue beam hodoscope.


RMB   Went through integrated manpower sheets for PPARC with PJ.
      CMS Finance board and Steering committee at CERN Mon/Tues.
      Yesterday CMS UK ECal meeting at Brunel.
      Received comments from Brian Foster on PPARC/OST document,
      2nd draft will be finished today.
      Next week CERN Mon/Tues for Research review board.


MO    Two days at Brunel this week, attended course on lecturing
      students in the lab. and movement of physics dept. labs.
      Continue work on APD neutron irradiations.


PSF   Russians both received faxed invitations for 21 nights max
      over here.
      Measured last Sheffield block for transmission and found
      unexpected absorption band. Samples were OK so may be a size
      factor.
      Day spent on Central exhibition
      Minutes to do for yesterday's CMS UK meeting.
      Daresbury for 5 nights starting 11 Dec for XRD runs.
      Next week, to Brunel to pick up samples following lab moves,
      Analysing data at RAL.


DI    Reading Paul Dervans thesis and commenting.
      Wrote up VPT section of TDR.
      UK CMS meeting yesterday.
      Eddy Bateman has VPT test box up and running, compact test
      box to be made.
      Continued work on modelling VPT's.
