Minutes of Quick Calorimetry Meeting 24-4-98. Present: RMB, DJAC, DCI, PWJ, BWK, ALL, BJS, MS. BJS Components are arriving, front end stops from Bristol and two sets of ferrules for fibre optics - both fit. Crystals all checked in centre pocket of Alveola with a range of of 9 - 25mm from front. Wall thickness of alveola varies from 0.4 up to 1mm so will use old alveola with wall thickness closer to spec. 0.2 - 0.4mm. Optical fibres delivered for back from Saclay, fibres do have a break. DJAC - Quality control to be discussed at ECal week. Assembly jig made with 3x3 alveola and crystal inserted into centre pocket. DJAC added - Russian red LED pulsing OK (Tony Lodge), Saclay fibres arrived with diffuser (9 fibres for MSC + 2fibres for calibration PN diodes. HV board ready end of this week. RMB Meeting with Ian Corbett, briefing for RRB. Survey of British firms who may be able to bid for CMS Magnet cryo. system. Raised change of format for CMS week with Collaboration board. Responded, with PWJ, to Cashmore review of projects 2005-2020. Attending (video conference) combined Management/Finance board meeting. CMS costings formally re-assessed, 475MCHF to 465MCHF and now down to 455MCHF. Staging of tracker defers 10MCHF beyond start time. MS Testing VPT's with 1.8T Magnet in R5.2. There apppears to be no consistent pattern between different VPT's on field vs output. Will re-test all RIE and Electron tubes - all good ones are now tested. Electron tubes VPT's suffer falling output if Anode-Dynode voltage is greater than 300V. Next week work on stability of tubes. BWK Set up macro for fitting VPT runs. Looking at End Cap/Barrel transition region. At TDR geometry radius sees the hole but ran simulations at -2 and +2cm. +2cm seals the hole. DJAC Reported on results of large boule production, results contained in his EMail. Laurie Lintern 28-4-98.
