              Minutes of Quick Calorimetry Meeting  3-7-98


Present:  RMB, DJAC, PSF, BWK, ALL, MS.


PSF   This week open day duty. Mending exhibits in central exhibtion.
      PRH wants RAL preprint of glass paper, cost #150.
      Next week thesis.


ALL   Working on design of multi VPT test rig for 1.8T magnet.
      VPT's to be housed in Al alloy boxes 38mm square and 60mm long.
      The first design had 6 rows of 7 giving 42 vpt's but if the
      boxes are bonded together we get 6 rows of 10.
      Suggest we use Labview to handle this system, discuss with MS
      Next week continue this work.


RMB   This week preparation for cost review meeting and management
      board meeting.
      Bristol have volunteered to do mechanical work for 5x5 and
      will take up prototype testing. 
      IC will refurbish environmental box for 5x5.
      Tracker looking for new rad hard front end chip.
      Next week write up results of cost review.
      Hamamatsu will be visiting Brunel next week for a meeting.


MS    Sorting out what data we have and small coil data.
      Some funnies in data, may be real or need interpreting.
      MS and HA to sort out 1.8T data and produce a report.


BWK   Preparation work for PPESP.
      Demonstrating on open days.
      Simulation work, running debugged version of the program,
      showed energy loss vs rapidity and fraction of events
      losing 20-80% energy vs. Endcap dimensions.
