Minutes of the meeting held on 6th March 1998 Present - DJAC, DI, BWK, MS, RMB, PSF, ALL. DI - Mainly exam papers and proof reading tracker PDR. Still no word from E.T. on price. Almost have system for new magnet(1.8T). Box to house 3 Stephenson amps not yet ready. (aside from DJAC - 120 Stephenson amps made, need to recoup as many as possible. Brian Smith needs decision on which VPTs to use for the 3 x 3 tests. Need to check out 6 E.T. and 6 Russian VPTs and extract the 9 required from these. A lab in R12 is to be used as the assembly area for the 3 x 3 and the prototype supercrystal.) ** Critical item is the magnetic field measurements, required ** ** before 1" prototype order can be placed. ** BWK - Analysis of data from test beam, using small OPAL coil. Simulation work, Contacted John Hayes to find status of geometry in CMSim. Note on simulation progressing. RMB - Work on Grants request. Work on 'Deliverables' for CMS. MS - Test beam work, LED work with small coil to try and resolve observed funnies in beam data. Field measurements of small coil. PSF - Uniformity of glass measurements to understand effects of surface texture/thickness/beam energy. Open Day work causing problems. ** PSF to provide RMB with his work plan ** ALL - Work on armature for initial tests in new magnet in R5.2, have adapted hifield test armature (recoverable). Still to do, cable up hodoscope and new plinth for xtals in brass box. DJAC - Work on Grants request. Next Week is CMS week and there is a 3 day meeting on electronics at ETH Zurich the following week. A.O.B. Brunel student, undergraduate, it is not yet clear if he will be able to come to RAL, BWK or MS agreed to act as supervisors depending on type of project. Martin Sproston 12th March 1998
