Minutes of Quick Calorimetry Meeting 27-3-98. Present: KWB, RMB, DJAC, PSF, FRJ, BWK, ALL. DJAC Mini supercrystal work is coming together. Crystals go into Alveola structure by different amounts so crystal machining or alveolas are at fault. They will go through the ACCOSS machine then on to analysis. Trouble with 3X3 PCB - cannot fit all capacitors, 5X5 will have more real estate so probably no problem. Agenda for ECAL UK meeting sent out, 1-4-98 at RAL. KWB to report to ECAL meeting on FRJ progress on temp. monitoring. FRJ Temperature monitoring - using same circuit as before. Mods to data logger, FS 25degC (operate at 18degC) 100 bits per degC (0.01degC precision) Ordered tighter spec. thermistors. Data logger has 16 channels available. KWB Still doing some INTAS work, will finish next week. Talked to RS about test procedures for 3X3 array. RTV is required by middle of April. Opal and Grants committee work next week. BWK Started running simulation jobs for EndCap/Barrel junction. Ran job incorporating latest John Hayes code and it crashed, assume it is one of his routines, will be in touch with him. Opal for rest of week. Need to define outer radius for report. Need plot of total energy deposited for end next week. PSF Wrote abstract on glass work for major glass conference in Sheffield next September. New data logger ckecked out for Sheffield work. ALL Magnet in R 5.2 is finally operational, checked out with our new gaussmeter, gives 1.833T at 450 Amps(max). Iron/mu metal screen removed from brass box to check VPT in Opal test magnet, new mounting made for VPT. The box mounting bracket has been re made to allow VPT full travel into magnet. VPT "armature" modified for tests in 1.8T magnet, at the moment mounting is for Ham. VPT's, need to look into mounting Electron tubes VPT's. Next week work on new cooling platform for crystals in brass box to improve temperature stability. RMB Working on grants committee submission, due April 1st. DJAC/JC to push forward on PBS (production breakdown schedule). Costing required for major items (D's). Memorandum of Understanding out, BWK has put on CMS UK web page. Will report on deliverables at CMS UK Ecal meeting next Weds. Next week CERN on Departmental business. Laurie Lintern 30-3-98
