Quickcal 16 Apr 1999

Minutes of Quick Calorimetry Meeting 16-4-99.

Present: RMB, DJAC, PSF, DCI, BWK, ALL.

ALL Last two weeks gluing VPT/Crystal assemblies for 5x5 array.
Coordination of PPD lab refurbishment, there is now a
schedule for the work which starts on 26/4. Little disruption
to our accomodation although ALL will be involved in Lab6/7
reorganisation. Anyone with equipment in Lab7 should take an
interest as there will be a large clear out.
Next week, Liverpool Monday for Linear collider meeting,
VPT/magnet rig mechanical design, hardware for beam line magnet
      PC control, Lab6/7 reorganisation.

BWK Simulation work, finished note on Endcap simulations.
New simulations using jets in Endcap/Barrel junction.
Used b and d jets (100Gev) with standard and +3cm Endcap, energy
resolution is 15-20%. +3cm endcap give no noticeable effect.
Next get better statistics and run with endcap -3/-6cm in case
      of cabling difficulties.
Simulating effect of dead material behind endcap.

RMB Steering committee Monday afternoon, video conference.
Briefing Ian Corbett for Resources review board meeting, 26/4.
Opal work for selection panel in May.
JIF bid meeting today on ISIS irradiation facility upgrade
proposal, deadline for submissions is 31/5.

DCI Testing VPT's, RIE and dished dynode VPT (Hamamatsu)
Trying to understand DC gain/pulse gain discrepancy.

DJAC PRH at CERN working on triple gauge coupling.
Next week Jim Virdee and Austin Ball visit RAL, Thursday.
Back on 29/4 with J-L Faure and P. Lecoq.
HT filtering on VPT, work progressing with components.

PSF Work on ISIS irradiation facility upgrade for JIF bid (2002).
Could be brought forward to 2001 with some pressure.
Measured glass samples with Dow Corning 3145 RTV.
      Worked out absorption coefficient.
Worked on drift in Laser group spectrophotometer, changed
bulb, baseline calibration drift now 0.5%.
