Quickcal 7 May 1999
Minutes of Quick Calorimetry Meeting 30-4-99
Present: Austin Ball, RMB, DJAC, PSF, BWK, ALL.
ALL Clearing out Lab 6 and 7 ready for building operations in Lab 6.
Working on hardware for test beam magnets PC control.
Rigged up ADAM units so that Andrew could test Labview control
program, this was successful.
Next week A/L.
PSF Discussions with Dave Evans on resins and gas evolution problems.
Working on JIF bid for ISIS irradiation facility.
Still fighting spectrophotometer drift problems, seems to be
sensitive to dirt.
Continue glue tests next week and preparation for irradiation of
samples at Brunel Co60 source.
BWK Continuing simulations at the Barrel/Endcap region using endcap
size options (-3 and -6cm).
Reconstruct hadronic jets (b and d) at eta 1.2-1.7 with one
interaction length of copper behind and aluminium in gap to
simulate cables, no significant effects in HCal.
With single photons looked in the gap region with HCal added in.
At eta 1.48 -1.52 the corner of the copper block is clipped.
HCal sees half energy of photon with no copper block.
Change radius of Endcap to +3cm and it looks OK but at TDR radius
energy goes down to about 40%.
Remove copper and energy can be reconstructed fairly well although
resolution poor as it's the HCal.
Next week more simulation and work for PPESP with Fred Wickens.
DJAC Resources review board on Monday. Met with Russians on Tuesday
to discuss Alveola's, price costing will be presented next week
at ECal week. Yesterday J-L Faure has asked a French firm to quote
for Alveola's.
Next week, ECal week at CERN. 5x5 array at CERN.
Laurie Lintern 13-5-99.
