Minutes of Quick Calorimetry Meeting 29-10-99.
Present:  RMB, PSF, DCI, BWK, ALL, CAXP.

BWK   Running high statistics monte carlos for Ecal/Hcal at
      Endcap/Barrel junction.      Update CMS UK Web site.
      Technical note on Endcap geometry - finishing of, now
      ready. Opal work.

DCI   Working on VPT specification and procurement documents.
      Specification doc, version 4.1, is now almost ready,
      just the burn in to specify.
      Procurement doc - discussing with RMB and KWB, this will
      take longer to finish.
      Ageing Ham. VPT by inverting HT, sending Ions into dynode,
      not convinced this will work.

RMB   At CERN for end of ECal week, then Resources review board.
      Looking at contractural position.
      Discussions at CERN on crystal delivery position, Dave to
      write to Paul Lecoq next week.
      Next ECal finance board meeting will put questions to
      Russians on Alveola production.
      Alveolas are being produced of good quality.
      Prototype VPT's have arrived from Photonis, 2 predeposit
      ones have been tested. They are well produced and very
      clean. Gains are low at around 3-4 but they have a flat
      response in the 1.8T field at 10 degrees.
      The problem of helium diffusion into VPT's will have to be
      addressed at some point, we have to set up some tests.

CAXP  Discussions with Bruce on VPT testing.
      Glue tests at 100/500 microns (RTV3145) 7-9 days seems to 
      be setting time, monitored with scanner.
      Controlled humidity tests next.

PSF   Checking absorption of RTV 3145, comparison of absorption
      curve with CERN plots gave a good match.
      Measured and fitted curve for refractive index of PWO.
      Wrote bid for new vac student.
      Some PhD work.

ALL   Testing Photonis VPT's for gain and field effects, continue
      with life time tests next week.
      Next week getting together dispay items for visit 8/11.
