Minutes of the meeting held on 3rd September 1999 Present - MS, PSF, BWK, CAXP, RMB. MS - Continuing with lifetime measurements (#14 leave with 100 nA DC current over weekend). Irradiated VPTs not yet been tested. PSF - Involved with back-scatter rig. Tests on gluing production techniques, note written on these tests, results suggest that RTV acceptable and it even has some advantages. Samples of RTV irradiated with neutrons, not yet tested. Gamma irradiation work still to be written up. More quartz plate ordered. Thesis work continuing. BWK - simulation of Brunel radiation facility. Endcap, another iteration on the spacer dimensions (joining supercrystal to backplate) Helped Brunel's new CMS student with Geant. Received letter from work experience student saying thank-you and how much he had enjoyed it. CAXP- Learning LabVIEW RMB - Back from leave on Wednesday. PPESP document has to be assembled by end of next week. Preparation for CMS week. Still some feedback interviews. There have been some INTASS submissions for VPT and Alveolar work. There will be another visit to CERN during CMS week, this time by Sir Robert May, Chief Scientific Advisor to the Cabinet Martin Sproston 9th September 1999 Martin Sproston Senior Scientific Officer, Particle Physics Department Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Chilton, Didcot, OXON OX11 0QX tel: 01235 445668 fax: 01235 446733
