Minutes of Quick Calorimetry Meeting  10-9-99.


Present:  RMB, CAXP, DCI, BWK, ALL.


ALL   Ordered ISEG HT supply, precision model with 2 autoranges
      for current measurement via RS232, best resolution 100pA.
      Commissioning Beam line magnets PC control with Andrew.
      Current setting works fine but some current readback
      problems. 2 supplies found to have their supply voltage
      between the current monitor line and ground, this was
      upsetting the other ADAM units and the transient suppressors.
      Work on this problem next week.


BWK   Problems with PS files.
      Discussions with PRH on GEANT/ZEBRA.


CAXP  Learning LabView, reading through serial port successfully
      read out gaussmeter and thermocouple. Next week progress on
      to try and read out CAMAC crate helped by Bruce.


RMB   Working on document for PPESP almost finished today. PWJ to
      finish next week. Bruce will put onto Web for comments.
      Preparing for CMS week at PSI next week.
      MS doing VPT ageing tests at 1/100th of previous current,
      100nA/1nA results look similar.


DCI   Produced paper on 1999 Brunel VPT test results.
      Tested Meltz VPT's, going up to 2.5kV gives a gain increase
      of about 20%. In magnetic field gain loss is around 40%.
      100V max anode/dynode in magnetic field.
      Doing complete write up of Meltz data.
      Updated specification for VPT's.
