Minutes of the meeting held on 19th January 2000 Present - PSF, CAXP, JHW, RMB, MS, DJAC, BWK, ALL. ALL - Sorting out H&S, computers, etc. for new staff members Erik Johnson and Julian Williams(Joolz). Initially Erik is nominally working on Linear Collider work and Joolz on CMS. Following up equipment orders. **** DJAC then lead a discussion on what Joolz was to do and as a consequence time scales for the VPT test system. Joolz to take over the work that Andrew has been doing, both AutoCAD and LabVIEW, CAXP to act as bridge on LabVIEW work since Joolz has no previous experience of this. CAXP to get together with Andrew on his LabVIEW programs so he can pass on the info as Joolz gets up to speed on LabVIEW. (1) Data taking with LabVIEW (Jan 31 - Feb 4) [Joolz/CAXP] (2) Noise in prototype (Feb 7 - 11) [Joolz] (3) Full Mechanics for 48 channels (by 18 Feb) [Joolz] (4) HT relay switching box (by 17 Mar) [ALL] Various aspects connected with the VPT tender and subsequent delivery, handling, logging of info in database were then discussed. **** Then continued with "round table" reporting. PSF - Reported present aims for gluing and helium tests. Then set out in more detail the proposals for helium tests Initially pure helium set up (Joolz) [Jan 24 - 28] - gas regulator required. Also discussed what parameters should be measured. Work for annual report Preparing talk on glue for Ecal week. CAXP - Preparing talk to given at university. Writing instructions for using LabVIEW VPT acceptance testing program. JHW - Administration connected with starting new job. Introduction to aspects of CMS work which will form part of workload. RMB - At CERN for Management Board and Finance Board. Preparation for spending review Election committee for new spokesperson. MS - Photonis #40 reinstalled in lifetime test set up, at previous HT (1000/800 V) there was a rapid fall of 5% in 1.5 hours, as the main difference between the test of #41 and #40 had been the HT reduced HT to 700/500 V, this reduced the rate of fall but it still kept falling **[Ask Peter Hobson when Hamamatsu VPTs with getter are due.]** DJAC - Reported back on Technical Board meeting. 10 new crystals are at CERN (now being tested in Lab 27), no new VPTs so may need to use some of VPTs from first SC. BWK - Annual report editing. Martin Sproston, 8th February 2000.
