Minutes of Quick Calorimetry Meeting  28-1-00.


Present:    DJAC, PSF, DCI, BWK, ALL, MS, IRT, JW.


DCI      Finished write up on long term behavior of VPT's
             Will try Ham VPT's reverse biased.
             Described PRH set up for VPT leakage current measurements (floating DVM's).


MS       Photonis new tubes, post deposit photocathode, show higher than normal gain       
             loss in field, 50-60%.
             #49 profile is OK but #50 is poor.
             Life tests - short term loss then rise in response at 200nA cathode current.
             Still trying to understand anomalies of #40 and #41.


DJAC   Reported on Alan Herve visit, happy with supercrystal design.
             Product readiness review - all risk factors for supercrystal should be investigated
             before PRR.
             Effect of Jura seismic profiles and CMS vibration modes on supercrystal to be
             investigated ( 0.25g vert and 0.15g horiz ). Justin Greenhalgh may be able to help
             us with this.
             Supercrystal is the basic element of a Dee, need to show that the 1mm spacing
             required for mechanical reasons does not compromise the physics.
             Physics for periphery of endcap, do we need to fill gaps?
             Cooling, need to show we can maintain 18 degC +/- 0.2 degC.
             VPT tender can be put in place and crystals/alveolas ordered.
             Needs to be some discussion on thermal regulation with preshower at -10 degC.
             Next week ECAL week at CERN.


BWK   Annual report due in today, 2 drafts put up on Web this week .
            Higgs > 4e simulation has a strange bug, working on this.
            For PRR, accumulating high statistics of jets/photons on EE periphery.


JHW   Getting up to speed with LabView.
            Preparing for  VPT helium leakage tests.
              Taking over Autocad and LabView from Andrew for VPT/Magnet test rig.
            Sorting out old PC's for disposal in Lab 7.


PSF      Setting up for VPT Helium leakage tests, monitor for start of double pulsing.
             Will use ET 20mm tubes to start with.
             Annual report, did write ups for He. leakage, Glass work and Glue tests.
             Prepare talk on glue tests for Ecal week, still work to do on unbonding but
             conclusion is to use 3145RTV.
             Clear out in Lab 7


ALL     Working on mechanical design for VPT/Magnet test rig.
             Lifetest set up for HV reed relays, Andrew writing LabView routine
             Starting Erik Johnson on Linear collider projects.
             Sorting out Lab 7, 2 skips ordered, one for electronics/metal the other for
             general rubbish, feel free to use them to clear out junk from Lab 7.


IRT      Working with John Coughlans software, configuring front end drivers.
             Next week CERN, talk to cluster finding people about algorithms.
