Minutes of Quick Calorimetry Meeting   18-2-00.


Present:   KWB, DJAC, DCI, BWK, ALL, CAXP, MS, IRT, JHW.


BWK     Higgs>4e generator now running, starting work on reconstruction.
              Tidying up CMS EE Web pages.
              Opal work.


MS         Finished lifetime tests on Photonis #50, same curve as #49, quick drop in response by 
              20%, then rise to above initial response.
              Field tests on new Hamamatsu tubes with getters, axial and +/- 10 deg.
              Lifetime tests now started. MSOffice now on Beamline PC.


JHW,     Cleanup in Lab 7. Working on tray design for loading VPT magnet tests.
              Getting Lab 7 PC's onto network, some problems.
              Next week continue trap design.


DCI       Wrote up paper on temperature stability of ultrabright blue LED's. In pulse mode
              output coefficient is 1/2% per degC.
              Modifications to "torpedo" VPT mounts for 4.2T tests. Using RS preamps which
              are a bit noisier than Canberra preamp.
              4 new VPTs arrived from Electron tubes today.
              Hamamatsu people will be at Brunel next Tuesday.


KWB     3 days Opal work. Work on Grants report.
              Next week, objectives and Tracker meeting at ICSTM.


IRT        Understanding cluster algorithm using CMSim.


CAXP   Writing manual for VPT test program, continuing next week.
              VPT test program reads data, rewrote histogram programs after some problems.


DJAC   Discussions with Russians at CERN on mechanics for one insert, to be made by
             a firm in Moscow.
             Quotes due from JC for UK made mechanics.
             Met with Julian Greenhalgh  and Len today to discuss PRR.
             Slow down on PRR work to concentrate on EDR.
            Next week Crystal production review at CERN to discuss whole of crystal
            planning.


ALL    Cleanup and reorganising in Lab 7. Disposed of old PC's and Electronics.
            Finishing off VPT test rig mechanical design.
