Minutes of Quick Calorimetry Meeting 26-5-00.


Present:  KWB, RMB, PSF, BWK, ALL, IRT, JHW.


IRT        Dave asked about possibilities of extending tracker to 2.65, we would have to push   
              for it and need more numbers from simulations. At the moment it is not under 
              points for discussion on Tracker. Final design decisions to be made by Dec 00.
              Successful Test beam run with APV’s, FED occasionally failed to recognise frames,
              this is now being fixed. APV’s occasionally running out of sync, around 3/16.


CAXP    Expected to start commissioning LabView but delayed by mods to VPT rig bottom
               plate. Writing reports for University.


BWK      Bruce gave a resume of the VPT rig meeting held earlier.

                An attempt to flatten the warped baseplate in a press failed, this will now be
                rectified by light machining on a mill to level up the side plate mounting positions.
                One line of 8 VPT cans is glued and ready to glue/screw to hubs when the baseplate
                returns.
                The boards with 5 channels of RS preamps have just arrived at Bristol, we should get 
                one in a few days.
                Joolz has now got the website up and requests comments on testing flowcharts.
                PRH has suggested alternating VPT meeting between RAL an Brunel, trying to find
                a suitable date for Brunel, probably not next week.
                Consider type of RS232 8 channel extender to buy.

               Simulating outer edge of EE, modify CMSim to allow hand placing of Supercrystals
               at various positions, debugging this now.
               Dave and Justin discussing problem of heat flow down coax feeding to crystal, asked
               Bruce to look at problem.
               

KWB      Worked on Test beam for Tracker tests.
               Showed Martins latest results on RIE lifetime tests. From 100% now down to 57%,
               now 17days at 200nA.

RMB      APR work. Preparation for Grants committee visit on 1st June, have to cover CMS        
               EE, Tracker and Opal.
               KWB to cover Tracker and Opal, IRT for Tracker. DJAC and BWK to cover EE.
               Will take committee to R12, there will be an Alveola mounted up on Metrology bench.
               Order for RIE VPT’s should be proceeding.


JHW    VPT Web site up and running, Email comments to Joolz.
            RS preamp mounted in box for Helium ingress tests. The EFD gluing machine has
            arrived, checking this out.
            Work on He test rig and re organising Lab 7.


PSF      Justin asked Paul to comment on cooling problems, calculated temperature equalisation
             rates for crystal.
             Check with Chris Brew to see if we can get a thermal FEA package on NT.
             Helium ingress tests proceeding, current is climbing faster, in He now for 2 weeks.
             New RS preamp shows a lot of rf noise, will talk to RS .
             Next week work on heat flow experiments.


ALL     Organise mods for bottom plate of VPT Test rig.
             Completing safety actions in R5.2 test beam area following recommendations of safety
             committee.
             Work on VPT can to produce initial wiring and VPT mounting scheme.
             Linear collider work.
