Quick VPT Test Rig meeting - minutes

Date of meeting: 5 December 2003

Present: PSF, BWK, ALL, MS, JHW

  1. Status of rig: Production running.  Some overcurrent problems in recent batches.  Expect to finish current batch (up to bar-code 6900) in week of 15 Dec.
  2. Dropped VPTs: Following mishap involving several boxes of VPTs, ALL has visually inspected the tubes from the worst-affected box.  3 new wrinkled grids found.  All of the dropped tubes will be retested as soon as possible.
  3. VPT sorting for supercrystal: BWK/JHW will ensure that the necessary databases are correct so that the sorting can be done efficiently.
  4. R12 storage: JHW will get the shelving into shape in R12 so that VPTs can be moved there.
  5. Long-term test system: GPIB cable has now arrived.   The Labview software can talk to the scope, but JHW has a few minor problems to solve to make the system functional.
  6. Brunel report (PRH by email): Cryostat successfully refilled with helium.  Omar has sent plots to RAL for VPTs 1118, 1133, and 4035.   VPT measurements continuing.  Tests on the non-magnetic chain for new torpedo show that the more expensive kevlar version is needed, rather than SS wire reinforced types.
  7. Safety: Radiation signs in R5.3 are now correct.
