Quick VPT Test Rig meeting -
minutes
Date of meeting: 23 January 2004
Present: KWB, PSF, BWK, ALL, CL, MS
- Status of rig: 6 preamp boards
damaged inadvertently - tantalum capacitors on 5V rail blown. Bristol
have spare boards - should be installed early next week. Vince Smith has
offered to attempt to repair the damaged boards. The damage occurred
because a length of copper tape fell into the low-voltage power supply.
Steps will be taken to prevent any recurrence.
- Visual inspection rig: Moved to lab 7
darkroom. ALL has inspected 300 of the latest batch (6901-7300).
- VPT grading station: Set
up in R12. JHW is in process of upgrading the PC to run XP.
- VPT storage in R12: 1 fridge is
currently under nitrogen, with another awaiting gas connection. A third
is needed to store the current stock of VPTs.
- Brunel report: About
to order mechanical and optical parts to complete the multi-VPT torpedo.
system.
- Safety: Discussion of CE labelling of
VPT test rig. This requires a thorough risk assessment and documentation
of safety aspects of rig design. Interlock and warning lights will be
installed as soon as possible after the installation of new preamp boards.
