The only dark matter searches which have so far met with success are those using gravitational lensing to search for Massive Astronomical Compact Halo Objects (`MACHOs'); from the number of lensing events detected, away from the Galactic centre, between a quarter and a half of the Galactic dark matter could be `ordinary matter' in this form.
