Complete Slice Test 1997

Test Overview

This page provides information on the Beam Tests in 1997 of a complete slice through the Level-1 calorimeter trigger. The slice consists of the following components:

FADC Modules:
Digitise calorimeter signals at 40Mhz with 8-bit precision.
TXM (transmit) Modules:
Perform Bunch Crossing Identification and serialise data via G-link or Optobus.
FEM (Front-End) Modules:
Like TXM, with added high-speed data collection and retrieval.
CPM (Cluster processing) modules
Find e.m. clusters, provide energy values for JET and send hit flags to CTP.
JET modules
Identify Jets and send Jet hit signals to CTP.
CTP (Central Trigger Processor)
Accept hit flags and generate the Level-1 Accept signal.
TCM (Timing Control Module)
Controls system clocks and generates event interrupts.
